It’s Time To Play Aggressive Poker

Most poker experts agree with us when we say that being aggressive is the way to go when trying to win a hand. You can see this aggressive attitude in the professional poker players during the top competitions. It is very rare that you will see a passive poker professional who will actually win.

Now this doesn’t mean that you always have to play aggressively. There is a time to be passive and a time to be aggressive and understanding when to turn it on and off is very important. The trick to being aggressive is to make everyone else at the table feel uneasy as they watch you betting and raising on certain hands. Usually they would be expecting people to be checking or calling because that would make it easy on everyone especially you. That is why when to bet or raise you are throwing them off guard and possibly slip up.

Remember that when you bet and raise you are taking control of the hand and forcing the other players to either check or fold. That is what being aggressive is all about. Taking control and taking advantage of any open opportunity that will increase your money.

Of course there can be disadvantages to playing aggressive. After a few hands of playing this strategy the other players (if they are observant) will begin to take notice and will catch on to what you are doing. You can always bet that someone will sit up and take notice when someone is starting to raise them especially if it is a common occurrence. When this starts to happen they other players will most likely try to trap you by checkraising you when they have a really good hand. Other times they will just call assuming that you will raise again – which if you really want to play aggressively you will. Remember that you want to choose when to be aggressive and when to be passive.

Playing aggressively is a very bold strategy and should only be used if you have practiced and know exactly what you are doing. When you do not play this strategy right you will end up with ‘reverse implied odds’. This means that you will not make any money when you have a hand that can cause you to win the round. Because of this you will also notice that you will pay out more money to your opponents when they have a good hand and win.

Whichever strategy you decide (passive or aggressive) is up to you. There is always a trick to both and it is important to know and practice the proper and most effective way of playing.

Things to remember:

- To be aggressive you need to raise, bet, and checkraise when people would least expect it.

- Don’t always bet and raise when you feel like it. Doing this will cause ‘reverse implied odds’ and will make you lose money in the long run.

- Don’t get ‘revenge’ on people who have noticed your strategy and are trying to trap you. Keep your mind on the game and take notice of what their strategy is so you can trap them instead.

4 Basic Poker Tips To Keep In Mind When You Want To Win

If you want to play poker professionally you need to know the basics. When we say the basics we mean what to do and what not to do for your strategy. We have four important tips to learn and to put to use when you play that will help you to improve your game, win you more hands, and give you more money in your pockets.

1. It doesn’t Hurt To Fold Every Now And Then

Amateur poker players think that it is bad form to fold their hands or they think they could potentially lose out on something good. When learning poker you need to know that in order to win you have to lose a few games. You’ll find that if you try to play as many hands as you can than you will lose out on a lot of money. Always fold your hand when you are uncomfortable with what you have or know for sure that what you have could lose you the round.

2. Bluffing Is An Art Form And Should Not Be Abused

While bluffing is an important part of poker it is not a strategy that should be taken lightly. Now bluffing doesn’t necessarily have to be used during a poker game - but at certain times it can be effective. Some bluff just for the fun of it and this is the worst move you can make. You need to remember and learn when the right time to bluff is and who it will work against.

3. Don’t Play With High Emotions

Never play poker when you are mad or depressed or to get away from those feelings. When you do this you will start off playing a bad game and it will only go downhill from there. You won’t be able to play rational and you won’t think clearly. The same goes for people who usually get mad when they lose a hand. Keep your emotions out of it and play with your head.

4. Keep Your Eyes On Your Opponents

Watching the faces and movements of your opponents can greatly improve your game. This will help you to understand when they raise, what they do with certain hands, and when they are bluffing. Even if you have decided to fold out of the round you still want to pay attention to what they are doing and how they are reacting. Once you know how they will play out their strategies you will have a better chance of bluffing and stealing the pot.

World Poker Tour - WPT Tournaments At Commerce Casino

The 6th annual World Poker Tour Invitational is one of the biggest events of the year and will be held at the world’s largest casino – the Los Angeles’ Commerce Casino. There will be hundreds of famous people including some of the best poker players and some of the top celebrities. The tournament will kick off March 1st and will give the players a chance to play their hardest at Texas Hold ‘Em with all proceeds and winnings going to charity. The player to win may not get any money – but they will get the reputation of being a WPT champion.

This is one of the most exciting times not only for us to watch – but also for celebrities to do more than just walk down the red carpet and vote on who can act and who can’t. We have seen faces like Ben Affleck, Paris Hilton, Vince Vaughn, Cheryl Hines, Jason Alexander, Shanna Moakler, and Jon Facreau. Some of the top poker players that we have seen are Antonio Esfandiari, Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, and Phil Ivey. The three day tournament is the most anticipated tournament of the year.

"Being the world's largest poker casino and so close to Hollywood, Commerce sees many pros and celebrities come through its doors each week, but WPT's Invitational tournament is by far and away the most exciting event of the year," stated Director of Poker Operations of Commerce Casino - John Griffo. "What's great about the Invitational is you see them all come together for one night where they aren't just playing for cash, but for charity, respect, and overall - fun."

It is the last remaining 10 celebrities that will be given a cash donation to the charity of their choice as well as a donation to the event sponsor Harbor Private Funds, LLC. WPT Ladies charity partner Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Harbor Private Funds' Harbor Foundation, and Crocs, Inc.'s Soles United, who will each receive a $2,500 donation from WPT.

The event will begin on March 1st where all of the players will walk the red carpet starting at 5:00 p.m. After they arrive they will have a brief cocktail party that has been sponsored by Heineken, V2 Energy Vodka, and ‘Who’s Your Daddy’. Along with enjoying the best to drink they will also get to listen to one of the best female DJ’s that the U.S. has to offer – DJ Casey. This cocktail party gives players a chance to brush up on their skills with some of the best Texas Hold ‘Em ‘trainers’ that the WPT has to offer before they go on to the real tournament.

"We're very excited about the prominent international partners coming on board to elevate the overall event experience while allowing us to increase the impact for important charitable causes," said WPT Chief Marketing Officer - Rose Odeh. "Texas Hold 'Em is a worldwide phenomenon that many celebrities love to play, which makes the Invitational the perfect opportunity to bring together entertainment and philanthropy in a fun, yet competitive environment where everyone walks away a winner - and one person walks away with a World Poker Tour title."

The players to have chips at the end of the first day will be able to keep their chips and play the next day. The final players will be playing for only a portion of the prize pool of $225,000. The player to come in first place will win $100,000 and will be given a $25,000 seat at the WPT World Championship.

Women: a new power in the world of Casinos

Men have always dominated casinos and the world of gambling for quite sometime now. This includes not only casinos all around the world but also Internet casinos although there has been a significant change in the last couple of years.

This change is particular in case of online casinos where, these days, more and more women have been found to gamble.

Even a few years back, bingo was the only socially acceptable gambling that women could indulge in but over the last few years with Internet spading its wings, online gambling has really caught the eye of the net-savvy women who spend more and hours gambling at the various online casinos.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of online casinos is that women have more access online, especially to online portals of gambling.

Online gambling offers women physical security, which means that they can play at their own secured location without being intimidated by other male players.

Other important aspect would be the independence a woman might have while gambling online, which might be curbed at a casino by other players.

Finally, most women enjoy online casinos because it is easy and convenient and it can take you to a different world for a couple of hours.

You can actually shut yourself off from the rest of the world while you are at an online casino.

This is really important for a woman as it helps her to mentally and emotionally be at peace with oneself while indulging in a game of poker or casino.

It has been found that many women are put off by the face-to-face social interaction of games at a casino. A net casino can do away with such situations and allow women to play whatever game they choose and at their own comfort zone.

Online casinos are not fake websites. These websites are real and they offer real money. Moreover, they give you a feel of the casino and make woman players comfortable creating a like-like environment.

These online casinos cater to different sorts of women, as their design is at times specific to a color or a choice of design or sound.

These online casinos have the option of playing with “fun money” if one does not want to risk with real money. Women find this really satisfying as playing with fun money is a great way to gain experience and learn the rules of the different games.

It has been recognized that solitary games such as slot machines and video poker are the most popular among women who gamble.

Although these games are uncomplicated games and do not require any interaction with others, or complex strategic decisions, nonetheless they make you a better gambler.

When a woman is playing a slot or a video poker game it is easy to ignore the world around you, and forget your every-day troubles. But this does not mean that women do not play more complicated games like blackjack, craps and poker.

They are infact very good at it and some of the best poker players are women. For example, 18-year-old Norwegian girl Annette Obrestad won the 2007 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Main Event in London, and took home €1,000,000 in prize money.

Few Tips To Succeed At Online Poker

Those People who chosen to play online poker need to know some important tips. Just because you have won one tournament or won some bucks, does not mean you will keep winning money and have same luck. It is a little harder to play online poker because you can't really say who is bluffing and who is not, because you can not see their face and body language. so here is some tips, to become a good online poker player.

Start from Small:
You just do not want to throw yourself in a large tournament with experienced player.
so start playing small tournament or cash game, so you can adjust your game and know how to react and when to fold. once your confidence goes up , you can move to next level. This is the way you can always improve your game.

Working on a Strong Hand:
Lots of people play lose online poker because they mostly have weak hands. A good way to avoid this is wait for good cards, then you can go ahead and play. Make sure when you play strong hands, try to guess what other players are faring and know when to fold. Sometimes you have to fold Strong hands. then do fold. if you need to fold a weaker hand, then you should fold before you bet more, and lose as much less as possible.

Learn to find the Flop:
As you know, online poker is so fast, so you have to make sure that you can quickly able to find the flop and what could be the best hand for that. so you will able to see which opponents hit the flop and who missed it. some experienced player says sit out for few hands and read the player before you get into the game. so you know who are the fish and who are tight player.

Bet what you can Afford:
This is very important for online poker players, thats means you only sit with 20% of your bankroll. some player sit with all money and lose within few hands. and they deposit again and lose again. It is best to stop playing before you lose more money. Always make sure, If you cant afford, Do not play. You don't want to use the money you would pay the rent.
